The New York Times reports that tomorrow Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be sending instructions to agents in field offices aimed at changing their enforcement focus from work site raids that largely resulted in mass arrests of workers to I-9 audits and undercover investigations mainly targeting employers. However, workers will still be subject to arrest. According to the Times, the guidelines are partly a response to ICE's blindsiding DHS Secretary Napolitano with an unauthorized raid on a Bellingham, Washington mechanic's shop, which I discussed here.

Forget about justice. There is only business. The logic is very simple:
Current Situation: You target some perceived very deep pockets customers and try to sell yourself to them, but now you realize that they are just some idiots;
What are the alternatives: You can continue to push/educate these idoits, or try to sell your self to somebody else. You may make less profit up front, but if you truely have something, you might be able to make more out of it in the long run;
What if everything fails: No matter how good your product is, if you are unable to sell it, regardless if it is because your stupidity or your clients/potential clients' stupidity, as long as you didn't captalize it, your product worth nothing.
The bottom line: when a business fails, nobody thinks/cares about how good your product is, on the contray, everything thinks you are an idoit that makes a product that doesn't sell.
What you can do at least: Wake up and forget about justice, there is none.

Hi, I have my labor approved by Company A and I140 filed as soon as I got the labor. Before this I140 got approved I changed to Company B who filed for my labor and applied for I140 as soon as it got approved. My I140 with company B got approved and then the I140 with the old company A got approved 3 months later. Can I somehow get the old PD. Can some one who have been in similar situation or know some one in the similar situation answer this. I will be able to get a 2 year advance if this works out.

I would like to ask some questions about changing jobs. I am currently on a second H1-B, and have applied for a green card (Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS). The company�s attorney sent me the following form as a receipt: I797C application to adjust to permanent resident status.
If I decide to join a new company, what do they have to do? Can I change jobs keeping my current H1-B? Do they apply for another H1-B and then restart the green card process? What documents are required to port my current priority date?

Good that the GOP nominee for the Senate in California is taking a centrist position, but its annoying to hear about being opposed to amnesty. So is just about everyone who favors comprehensive immigration reform. The question is not whether you're against legalizing people and not punishing their behavior. None of the versions of immigration reform introduced in the last five years do that. My labor is approved, but haven't received approval from immigration yet. Online status is showing it is 'CERTIFIED'. Can I file I-140/485 with just electronic confirmation of labor in case if it get delayed in receiving approval? Bwy does anybody have an idea in how many days immigration will dispatch the approval copy of labor after it is certified?

My wife is going to India and She has to get her H4 stamped again(I am on H1 and received my next 3 year extension and so did my wife).
My parents are also planing to visit me. Should I book my wife's appointment along with my parent's appointment , or should I book 2 different appointments one for my wife and one for both my parents.

My company has been going through layoffs for the past 3 quarters and are unable to start my GC process. I believe they have to wait for 6 months before they go forward and apply. I am talking about a big company with different departments like operations, marketing and most of the layoffs are happening in these, but recruitment is active in IT. They are regularly recruiting new resources and increasing the head count.
I have following questions:
1) Can my company show that the layoffs are happening in different depts and go ahead and process my GC?
2) What is the risk in doing so.
3) Anyone experiencing a similar situation and could successfully get their GC process started and have approved labor/I140?
