If the USCSI didnt have enough applications to be assigned the VISA , then why are they so conservative in making the cutoff dates move ahead. What is the harm in pro-actively moving the cutiff dates, to amek sure no visa gets wasted.
A cut-off date avoids submission of AOS applications with PD after cut-off date. In my opinion, this was the only reason to retrogress on July 2: avoid AOS submission whose PDs became current in July.
Now nearly all AOS applications have been submitted. Hence, setting cut-off dates conservatively is not that motivating.

I was trying to get the loan thru NVR Mortgage. Because of my wife's EAD status, we could not get the loan from NVR.
Then they brokered it out to another agent, who accepted H4. But the loan rate went up from 4.75% to 5.25%. Finally we went with FHA loan (4.875%). FHA loan has an initial payment requirement of 1.75%.
End of story: because of EAD, we lost that 1.75% of the loan. Plus need to pay 0.125% extra.
But were U able to get the loan at the end ?

Just noticed there is an update on LUD on my previous EAD (not the current one). Not sure what that means though. Still waiting for response after sending interfiling letter.

As you said that you applied for H1 extn in 2009 and got extended only for 1 yr instead of 3 yrs [as your I-140 was approved], this means that this yr if suppose you have to apply for H1 extn again that means again the employer has to pay around 4000$ for extn and your have to pay again around 500$ for H4 extn correct ?

Well, so far so good for me. As per Zillow estimate, my home value is now 10k more than my purchase price. It depends on where you're buying.

I think it is the perspective that has changed. Until 2 years back we were ready to die to live in this country, we thought our country was crowded, polluted etc. etc. Things haven't changed much there. It's still same, criminals are still the most powerful, power, food & Shelter is still scarce, poor count hasn't decreased. It's just we are not seeing now 'the dark side of the moon'. There's no doubt our American dream is screwed up big time. We have ruined the best times in our lives. Out of these 1 million Visa holders, 1000's would have been entrepreneurs, artists, etc. etc. but this green card chase has beaten us down to H1B Visa holder forever.

Bodran, pl file your I-140 and your & sons I-485 immediatly..I am sure your I-140 will NOT take 2 years (as you are in EB3 ROW) to approve by which your son will be protected before he turns to be 21.
So, hurry up & file I-140/I485 ASAP and your son will be safe under CSPA (Child Status Protection Act). Also, pl read CSPA rule..I remember it was published on Feb 14, 2003...pl check..

Can you start a thread to decide about the meeting places for the state / city chapters so that members can gather and discuss.
This is more effective in addition to the postings on the forum.
You can selectively decide some meeting places for each state /city chapter
Post it for voting
Finalize the meeting schedules (like weekly meeting/monthly meeting)
Make it a regular event so that postings / thoughts can culminate into actions.

GCTest..you are right. I am with you.
Rather I would like to add more items to what u have listed-
1. Its wrong for EB2 filers to find/marry a us citizen. That will be unethical of them to do as they will be jumping lines. Because u would be unable to do if u would have married non-citizen..so based on GCTest's logic please dont marry us citizen or if u have marriued continue to only use you EB2 application for processing :-)
2. Also people who are now planning of using EB5 (assuming u have now saved/gather enough money). So EB2, EB3 or other people u have been saving money and are now thinking of risking ur money/career/life on EB5 filing..please dont do that...because that will be unethical.....u r doing it bcos u now have money. Per GCTest's logic u did not having money u filed ur EB2 or EB3 application so if u have money now...dont try to use it.
GCTest...can u think of other conditions ...do post them.
Oh yes corollary to #1. Also bachelors in EB2/EB3 category make sure u dont fall inlove and plan to marry any girl/boy from the countries which are current. Help GCTest's cause.

mbawa.. It is always nice to sit on the side and blame it all on the leaders here. First thing you have to remember is that these poor/great folks (poor for representing people like you and great for working for representing all immigrant hopefuls) are really working for YOU and me. It is quite convenient to blame others than doing things yourself. If you think you are any better, why not come up with your USEFUL/GREAT ideas and see if the IV core respects those ideas or not. Lobbying or not, when the government is ready to think about CIR or immigration in general, I am pretty sure that IV can make OUR voice heard. Got the point?
Problem is not the members but the overall stratergy. I understand ur emotions but certainly we need change and action. Without aggressive stratergy that can punch the noses of people against our agenda, we will not be successful. As I said - this is not personal at all. I know some of core people very well and they are competent and bright boys. This has to do with overall stratergy and we need to be bit more agressive .Without a new team which will bring in a coordinated effort & energy into this , we will not make it. CIR may get passed and other immigration categories may benefit at our cost if we don't change our course . Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Looks like my employer will fill up the 7001 form but how about the main letter. Does that needs to be signed and addressed by employer as well ?
Because the Link for 7001 doesn't talk about sending a separate cover letter.

Your employer does not need to sign the letter. You can sign the letter. On section 12 of the form 7001 mention " please see the attached letter" and then include the letter to be mailed to Ombudsman's office.

i had run these numbers a while back. for sure EB2 will reach the end of 2005 this year. i just hope its done systematically so that they clear everybody with an EB2 2005 PD this year.
Trust me, my friend - I surely believe in systematic movement and by this june/july it will be Dec05 or beyond. Dates for EB2 have stayed around apr04 for really longer and then suddenly to 06. Very few perms were cleared in 05 (as per your posting). It should logivcally be past 2005 , never to go back.BTW ,we missed GC last aug/sept lotto

Here is how I came up with that analysis. Last year they made changes to give GC for those stuck in FBI name check if they passed 180 days. So most of the ROW got their GC last year. There were not many labors approved from 2008. So there is no demand from EB2 ROW this year. With the economy going down, not many would get EB1s either. I don't anticipate many EB5s either this year. So major chunk of EB visas will need to come to EB2I/C. Will CIS do that or not is a different story.

Heres the sliver lining of all this immigration mess. Its good for spiritual development. I came here 10 years ago in mid 20s. My understanding of Indian philosophy was rudimentary at best. Now I have found reading and meditating on the meaning of Gita is one of the best ways for me to deal with the GC mess, and life in general. So I wonder if GC had been a smooth process would I have still discovered the beauty of the Gita?
